The Cambrian Explosion is likely one of the most radical events in the history of life on Earth. Over a geologically short period - about 20–25 million years - the biosphere changed beyond recognition. Where microbial communities and soft-bodied organisms like those of the Ediacaran biota once dominated, something fundamentally new emerged in the Cambrian: active movement, vision, predation, and… an evolutionary arms race. For the first time, complex eyes appear, such as those of Anomalocaris -
