The 1995 film “Now & Then” follows four women as they reminisce about their childhood and friendship, specifically during the summer of 1970. The screenplay was written by lesbian screenwriter I. Marlene King who based the story on some of her own experiences, and friendships, growing up. It should be of no surprise then that originally one of the characters, Roberta (played by Christina Ricci and Rosie O’Donnell), was written as a lesbian. Unfortunately, the studio had the character turned stra
