Wayne Northrop, who many soap opera fans know well for his portrayal of Roman Brady on Days of Our Lives, died on Friday, Nov. 29. He was 77 years old. His publicist Cynthia Snyder confirmed the news to Deadline, before Northrop's wife, General Hospital actress Lynn Herring, shared a statement about the loss.

The actor known for his work on the long-running soap opera died six years after being diagnosed with Alzheimer's.

He was best known for playing two characters, Roman Brady and Dr. Alex North, in more than 1,000 episodes on the daytime soap opera.
