The plane landed based on standard procedures and everyone onboard, including Secretary Hegseth, is safe, Pentagon spokesman Sean Parnell said.

Chief Pentagon spokesman Sean Parnell confirmed the incident on Wednesday, Oct. 15, and noted that Pete Hegseth “is safe” following his plane's emergency landing in the U.K.

The head of the Pentagon was heading back to Washington from a NATO conference in Brussels when the emergency was declared.
