Freeway north of LA was placed under a flood watch by the National Weather Service on Monday at 8:52 p.m. The watch is in effect until Tuesday Oct. 14, at 3 p.m.

MONTEREY – Flood advisories are in effect across the Bay Area as a storm system moves through the region this evening, according to the National Weather Service. The city of San Francisco and northern San Mateo County, including the cities of San Bruno, Pacifica and Millbrae, are under an advisory until 6:45 p.m., the weather service said.

On Monday at 8:22 p.m. the NWS Newport/Morehead City NC issued an updated coastal flood advisory in effect until Wednesday at 8 p.m. for East Carteret.

National Flood Insurance Program, which offers coverage private insurers don't, can't write new policies or renewals during the government shutdown.

Santa Clara and Santa Cruz counties are included in an updated flood advisory released by the National Weather Service on Monday at 6:34 p.m. The advisory is in effect until 9:30 p.m.
