A shooting at a US Air Force base in New Mexico early Saturday morning left one airman dead and another wounded, authorities said, adding that it was not an act of terrorism or an attack by an outsider.

A U.S. Air Force base in New Mexico reported a fatal shooting in the early hours of Saturday morning following an “off-base pursuit” that warranted a rapid response from local law enforcement.

The measles outbreak in West Texas has grown to 58 cases as of Tuesday. Eight people in neighboring eastern New Mexico also have been diagnosed with the highly contagious disease.

Measles outbreaks across Texas and New Mexico have sickened nearly 100 people, with more cases expected, according to state health officials. The disease has spread through the South Plains region of Texas since late January,

Texas reported 90 cases this week, while New Mexico reported nine. A majority of the cases have been in a Texas county where vaccination rates have lagged behind the rest of the state.
