A federal judge is giving the Justice Department until Wednesday at noon to provide him, under seal, with more information about deportations the Trump administration carried out pursuant to President Donald Trump’s use of a sweeping wartime authority.

The Justice Department argued that it did comply with the judge's written order, suggesting that his verbal ruling did not count.

The federal judge who ruled against Donald Trump's deportation plans and is now facing White House calls for his impeachment is no stranger to politically fraught cases — including ones involving the president.
