The incident occurred near the Bahamas off San Salvador Island on the Icon of the Seas cruise ship, according to the Royal Bahamas Police Force. Around 7:30 p.m. local time, a 35-year-old South African man allegedly stabbed a 28-year-old South African woman multiple times, police said.

A 35-year-old South African man was working on the Royal Caribbean’s Icon of the Seas cruise ship when he stabbed a 28-year-old South African female crew member “multiple times” just before 7.30 a.m. Thursday, the Royal Bahamas Police Force said.

According to the Royal Bahamian Police, per the outlet, the man allegedly stabbed another crew member, identified as a 28-year-old South African woman, “multiple times” before fleeing and jumping into the water. He was later found unresponsive in the ocean and pronounced dead by onboard medical staff.
