Spencer Steer homered and Nick Lodolo pitched six strong innings as the Cincinnati Reds beat the Miami Marlins 6-0 to earn a split in the four-game series.

Nick Lodolo and four relievers combined on a four-hit shutout Thursday for the host Cincinnati Reds, who salvaged a split of a four-game series with the Miami Marlins by earning a 6-0 win.

Abbott served as a stopper and everything else the Reds needed in order to halt their four-game losing skid. Abbott, who was confirmed as an MLB All-Star Game participant on Tuesday, July 8, threw seven and 2/3 innings of six-hit, one-run baseball against the Marlins Wednesday, July 9, and the Reds won, 7-2, at Great American Ball Park.

Alcantara, who gave up nine hits and six runs over five innings and had his already-horrific ERA swell further to 7.22 on the season, has allowed 19 earned runs in his past 18 innings (9.50 ERA).
