The Boston Celtics are set to embark on their final 27 games of the season, which begins Thursday. They will face their division rival, the Phialdpehia 76ers.

Vrabel, 49, was hired by the Patriots shortly after the end of the season. He takes over for Jerod Mayo, who led New England for one year. Celtics coach Joe Mazzulla, who’s in his third season as the top guy, spoke about what it was like having Vrabel around after inviting him to practice.

With two days between games, the Celtics took advantage of a rare opportunity to practice Saturday morning. And that gave Patriots first-year coach Mike Vrabel his first chance to see the team up close since assuming his new post.
