At least seven tornadoes hit Alabama on Saturday, and that number will likely climb even higher later today. The National Weather Service plans to continue looking at storm damage and has several areas that will be visited by storm survey teams today (Monday).

Alabama was struck with possibly 17 tornadoes during Saturday's outbreak of severe weather, with the storms causing at least three fatalities and several injuries.

At least three people were confirmed dead in Alabama after a wave of severe storms spawned tornadoes across the state throughout Saturday evening, causing power outages, downed trees and destroyed structures.

Officails say 52 of Alabama’s 67 counties sustained damage from severe weather Saturday evening, but Shelby and Talladega counties were hit particularly hard in certain spots. A tornado threw a school bus onto the roof of Winterboro High School gymnasium as it tore through Talladega County on its way east.
