A Long Island man scored big in the New York Lottery, winning a $1 million second prize in the Powerball game for matching the first five numbers drawn on Sept. 6, lottery officials announced.
The Powerball jackpot has grown to an estimated $1 billion for Saturday night’s drawing after lottery officials said no ticket matched all six numbers drawn Wednesday night. The U.S. has seen more than a dozen lottery jackpot prizes exceed $1 billion since 2016.
There was no grand prize winner from last night's drawing. That means the jackpot for the next drawing on Wednesday is up to $930 million dollars. That is the 7th largest Powerball jackpot in history and would be the single largest jackpot ever won in New York State if someone in New York were to win.
