A National City Police sergeant escaped serious injury after crashing his SUV during Thursday’s rainy conditions.

The incident occurred shortly after 5 a.m. in the 300 block of National City Boulevard when a pedestrian reportedly ran in the officer’s path. After swerving to avoid the pedestrian, the patrol vehicle hit a parked BMW and an electrical box.
