Abandoned vehicles littered submerged roads across South Texas’ Rio Grande Valley Thursday and Friday after over half year’s worth of rain forced dozens of water rescues near the US-Mexico border.

Weather forecasters are predicting an upper-level disturbance to approach Houston from the west and to cause some thunderstorms and heavy rainfall.

South Texas is trying to dry out after severe thunderstorms flooded streets and had authorities conducting more than 50 water rescues as many drivers were forced to abandon their vehicles on roadways and parking lots as some areas were inundated with a foot of rain.
