A California jury on Friday awarded $40 million to two women who said Johnson & Johnson’s baby powder was to blame for their ovarian cancer.

Where individuals convicted of conspiracy to committee wire and mail fraud and conspiracy to commit money laundering filed a host of post-trial motions, but none of those motions were granted, the verdicts stand.

The HR organization said the claim had no merit and vowed to appeal the decision.

Three guilty verdicts were handed up by separate juries at the Marion County Judicial Center on Dec. 11 – one for each murder trial running simultaneously this week.
