Stephen Colbert credited CBS on Monday’s (October 20) edition of The Late Show for allowing him to show footage of a “disturbing” AI video President Donald Trump shared on social media over the weekend.

Colbert was referring to the AI videos Trump released during the “No Kings” protests this weekend, which saw AI-generated footage of the president dropping feces on protesters. Speaker of the House Mike Johnson later defended the videos as “satire” — and so, Colbert cheekily had the word “satire” splash across the screen during his Santos dig.

Stephen Colbert has found himself in a somewhat unique position, as he hosts a nightly television show that touches on current events, and the fact that The Late Show has been canceled is one of those current events.
