SJSU volleyball team fails to make conference tournament in first season after trans athlete scandal
The San Jose State volleyball team was eliminated from Mountain West Tournament contention, ending its first season after trans athlete Blaire Fleming's departure.
Since the beginning of the year, the Aggies have been this unstoppable force, and despite taking a few losses throughout the season, they went undefeated in the conference portion. And after CSU lost 3-0 (16-25, 20-25, 19-25) Saturday, USU just bumped up its win streak to 21.
Whether they were feeling any extra pressure, the Aggie volleyball team got the job done Saturday afternoon at the Wayne Estes Center against Nevada.
The Cowgirls (17-12) ride a four-match winning streak into the championships and are coming off a pair of thrilling five-set wins to close the regular season last week. UW “reverse swept” New Mexico to open the week Thursday and then fended off six match points from Grand Canyon in Saturday’s finale.
CSU tried to carry the momentum into its first conference game of the season: Border War. Yet Wyoming took over and won in five sets. In the teams’ second matchup a month later, the Rams sought revenge and shut down the Cowgirls in three sets.
Six wins in a row have the Colorado State volleyball team set up for the biggest stretch of the season. The Rams are charging hard to try and retain the Mountain West title and secure a final championship in the last season in the league. CSU started ...

The University of Charleston and West Virginia State each produced one All-Mountain East Conference volleyball team member in awards announced Wednesday on the eve of the conference tournament.
BRIDGEPORT — Three Philip Barbour High School products have earned All-Mountain East Conference volleyball honors. West Virginia Wesleyan’s Emily Denison and MacKenna Halfin, along with West Virginia State’s Alyssa Hill are listed as honorable mention on the All-MEC team,
