The Sixers do not have the center depth to compete against the Boston Celtics without Joel Embiid, evidenced by their 123-91 Game 1 loss.
BOSTON — The bottom line is actually worse than any of the top-line numbers. And the top-line numbers were quite bad. In a 123-91 loss to the Celtics in Game 1 on Sunday, the Sixers shot 39% from the field and missed 19 of their 23 three-point attempts.
While the former MVP dealt with a variety of ailments this year, his presence has been crucial for the Sixers, who went 24-14 with him this season, compared to their 21-23 record without him. Embiid holds career playoff averages of 25.9 points, 11.5 rebounds, and 1.9 blocks in 15 career playoff games against the Celtics.
