Bloomberg is reporting this morning that Sony is working on a portable version of the PlayStation 5. This comes hot on the heels of news from Microsoft that a portable Xbox is being worked on, and of course ahead of the imminent announcement of the Switch 2.

A new unannounced PlayStation handheld is in active development, according to a recent report, and is likely still years away but supports PlayStation 5 games.

Reports from anonymous sources within Sony told Bloomberg a portable PlayStation console is in development. The development is still in the early stages and it could be years before we see a product if it isn’t scrapped before then. The portable console would allow gamers to take their PlayStation 5 games on the move.
