Pennsylvania National Guard activated to Erie due to Lake Effect Snow
Governor Josh Shapiro announced in an X post that he has activated the Pennsylvania National Guard to help residents stranded by Lake Effect Snow in Pennsylvania. According to WJET, residents of Erie County are waking up to their cars being buried in 1-3 feet of snow and closures of major highways and roads.
With several feet expected to fall in parts of New York through Monday, state officials have closed a portion of the Thruway.
