Dublin Rape Crisis Centre has taken on more staff to deal with a surge in calls in the aftermath of Nikita Hand's court victory over Conor McGregor.

Nikita Hand, who accused the sportsman of raping her in a Dublin hotel in December 2018, won her claim against him for damages in a civil case at the High Court in the Irish capital on Friday. The total amount of damages awarded to Ms Hand by the jury was €248,603.60 (£206,714.31).

And Rachel Morrogh, Chief Executive of Dublin Rape Crisis Centre said: “Since the jury found in favour of Nikita Hand, there has been a strong effect across Irish society that we are feeling in Dublin Rape Crisis Centre.

Nikita Hand's mother, Deborah Ní Laimhin, filed a civil case against McGregor and James Lawrence in 2021. It is unclear if the civil action will move forward, with no court date scheduled.
