The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) is looking into what caused the crash.

A small airplane crashed straight into a major Massachusetts highway during the Monday morning rush hour, killing both people on board and scattering flaming debris across the interstate.

It remains unclear what caused the accident, but police suspect the plane was flying to the nearby New Bedford Regional Airport.
