ISKCON members continued their protest outside their Albert Road centre in Kolkata demanding the release of Chinmoy Krishna Das in Bangladesh who was arrested from Dhaka airport on Monday.

Kolkata: ISKCON on Friday held a protest 'kirtan' at its Albert Road centre here for the second consecutive day demanding the release of jailed Hindu spiritual leader Chinmoy Krishna Das

ISKCON volunteers on November 28 organised a Kirtan sabha against the arrest of ISKCON priest Chinmoy Das by Dhaka police in Bangladesh. ISKCON Kolkata Vice President Radharaman Das said they had organised the kirtan sabha in solidartity with minorities in Bangladesh.

A statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs also claimed that the Bangladesh flag and an effigy of the interim government chief Muhammad Yunus were burnt during the protest that turned violent on Thursday.

Kolkata/IBNS: A massive protest rally was held in the streets of Kolkata on Thursday against the arrest of ISKCON monk Chinmoy Krishna Das in Bangladesh amid Hindu persecution in the neighbouring country.

Iskcon Bangladesh’ general secretary Charu Chandra Das Brahmachari said monk Chinmoy was removed from all positions within the organisation long ago due to a breach of organisational discipline.

A case has been filed against Chinmoy Krishna Das on charges of sedition, accusing him of raising a flag on a stand displaying Bangladesh's national flag. Hindu leaders across Bangladesh are outraged over the arrest and are demanding release of the ISKCON priest on immediate basis.
