Mike Flanagan has revealed the major changes that he is going to make to his Carrie TV show adaptation that will seek to update the story. The original 1976 version is considered a horror classic and was the first of many Stephen King adaptations.

In addition to writing and showrunning the project, Flanagan will direct a selection of its eight episodes. Flanagan, who connfirmed the news on his Bluesky page today, will also executive produce alongside Trevor Macy.

According to Variety, the actor – best known for her roles in Netflix series No Good Nick and Resident Evil – is set to play Sue Snell, a main character in the 1974 book who is regularly interviewed about Carrie, and what came to be known as 'The Black Prom', by its narrator.
