A Brown University assistant professor and doctor was deported over the weekend from Boston to Lebanon after federal agents found photos of Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah and Iran’s supreme leader on her cell phone,

Dr. Rasha Alawieh was detained at Boston Logan International Airport on Thursday and sent back to Lebanon despite having a valid visa.

A federal judge canceled a Monday morning hearing for a doctor who was deported to Lebanon after demanding to know whether U.S. Customs and Border Protection had "wilfully" disobeyed his order to keep her in the country amid a challenge to her deportation.

BOSTON—Brown University is warning international students and staff members not to travel outside the country after one of its professors with a work visa was deported after a trip to Lebanon.

The advisory comes as Dr. Rasha Alawieh, a kidney transplant doctor at Brown Medicine, was prevented from re-entering the country after a trip to Lebanon. Brown’s spring break begins March 22.
